Hot Diggity Dog – The Retro Pop-Up Hot Dog Toaster Makes Making Hot Dogs Even Easier
There are few things that are easier to make than hot dogs, but the Retro Pop-up Hot Dog Toaster makes it even easier. In fact, this Hot Dog Toaster is so easy to use that you can even let your young kids use it to get themselves a quick lunch or snack fix.
Why Do You Need A Hot Dog Toaster?
That’s a great question – why on earth does anybody need a hot dog toaster? Well, let me tell you why:
- Microwaves do a poor job of heating a hot dog: Yes, Microwaves are probably the most popular way to heat up a hot dog…pop it in, hit 15 seconds and you are ready to go. But, from my experience heating up thousands of hot dogs in the microwave, they can often come out rubbery and get cold fairly quickly.
- A properly toasted bun is key to a great hot dog: Keep in mind that this is a toaster and toasters do a great job of, well…toasting. And, any hot dog fan knows that a properly toasted bun makes a hot dog even tastier.
- It’s a lot more fun: And, this is key. We’re all in a hurry, but, let’s be honest…kids love to have fun (and, we adults, should have more fun too). Throwing a hot dog in the microwave and then popping that heated up rubbery dog in a cold bun isn’t that fun. But, popping a bun and hot dog into a bright red toaster and watching it pop out in hot dog perfection…that’s pure fun. So, why not hand off the hot dog making to your kids and let them have fun while saving you the chore of making them a snack/lunch.
Popping a bun and hot dog into a bright red toaster and watching it pop out in hot dog perfection…that’s pure fun.
The Nostalgia Pop-Up Hot Dog Toaster Makes Hot Dogs That Taste More Like They Are Grilled
So, the natural question, is whether the Nostalgia Pop-Up Hot Dog Toaster actually does a good job of making a better hot dog. And, the simple answer is YES. We tested the toaster on the 5 setting and it not cooked the hot dog through while keeping it juicy, but the hot dog popped out with grill marks. And, those grill marks didn’t seem to be just for show – the hot dog actually tasted like a grilled hot dog.
So, the hot dog that popped up was juicy and “grilled” to perfection, but what about the buns? Well, it took a bit of experimentation to get the right setting to make the buns perfect. But, after a bit of tinkering, we got the buns just right.
The Retro Pop-Up Toaster is available on Amazon as well as a bunch of other online stores and is under $20 for the 2 dog toaster.
