We don’t spend a lot of time thinking about wall clocks around here, but when we saw Amazon’s Echo clock we took note. While the aesthetics are pretty basic and straightforward, they are still sleek and will look nice in any room. But, it’s what the clock can do when it’s hooked up to your Echo that makes the clock stand out and be worth putting in the home.
While Alexa’s timers and alarms are really just basic utilities, they are useful (and fun) to show up on your wall. The Amazon Echo Clock will allow you to make voice commands and then display those on your wall while synching to your existing Echo device via Bluetooth. So, how does this work?
Well, let’s say you want to set a timer up on your clock. Simply ask your Echo to set a timer and it will display up in some nice-to-look-at LED lights that circle the edge of the clock face. This is very handy if you are cooking in the kitchen and don’t want to have set a timer with your dough-filled hands or have a timer in the middle of your workspace.
The Echo Clock is also handy because it eliminates the need to reset it for Daylight Savings, as it will do that on its own. So, the days of climbing up on a chair to move clock hands could be over.
While the Echo Wall Clock’s set of functions are pretty limited out of the gates, at $30 (MSRP) it’s a useful and fun addition to any wall in your house.
